Interior
Interior’ is how Brazilians call the countryside. For a few years in my childhood I lived on a farm in the state of São Paulo and I found another meaning for the term. In the vastness of the landscape, away from the gaze of the other, we turn immediately to ourselves. The inhabitants of these regions speak little and seem accustomed to a life inside. The more technology develops to automate agriculture, the larger the rural exodus grows and the emptier the landscape becomes. Rather than portraying the landscape, I wanted to document the psychological experience of the daily routine present there. I do not aim to show the people, but their absence, along with elements of everyday life in the interior.
